Hi Ellesmere Market,
My name is Denise and I am the owner, designer and creator at Purple Pixie.
Purple Pixie was founded 10 years ago when I took voluntary redundancy from a desk job of 27
years. The first two years I made beaded jewellery, incorporating handmade glass, ceramic and
wooden elements that I sourced from artists around the UK.
I then took a few silversmith lessons and I was hooked! Over the past 8 years I have acquired many
tools and pieces of equipment (but still have a huge wish list) and continually strive to learn new
skills and improve my work. I work from my home studio just outside of Oswestry and sell my work
online, and at local markets and fairs. My work is also available at three local shops.
I love colour and incorporate gemstones and some more unusual materials in my work.
Over the past two years I have developed a strong working relationship with a lady lapidary from
South Wales who sources, cuts and polishes beautiful cabochons from discarded objects such as
tenpin bowling balls, pool balls and the resin overspill from the surfboard making process.
I regularly incorporate these beautiful cabochons in my work along with the very popular Aurora
Opal which is a cultured gem.
Many of my pieces are one of a kind and I do take commissions if they are within my skill set.
I am registered with Birmingham Assay Office and my work is hallmarked as required by UK
